Beyonce uses direct address throughout multiple shots in the music video in order to express aggression and intimidation. However it shows a polysemic meaning as it could be a plead for help.

Her solid and fast head movement can show connotations to the supernatural and possession.

At 2:51 it shows a symbolic code of community.

An old VHS effect is used to simply look retro and cool.

The choreography of 2:53 symbolises police brutality as Beyonce shoots the last one in the circle.
